Netiquette

Netiquette

Netiquette is the correct or acceptable of communicating on the internet. Since the internet changes rapidly, netiquette changes too but it’s still usually based on the Golden Rule.

The rules are:

1.    Remember the human.

2.    Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life.

3.    Know where you are in cyberspace

4.    Respect other people’s time and badwidth

5.    Make yourself look good online

6.    Share expert knowledge

7.    Help keep flame wars under control

8.    Respect other people’s privacy

9.    Don’t abuse your power

10. Be forgiving of othe people’s mistakes

Why netiquette is so important?? Because online communication is typically non verbal. This means that is very easy to miss interpret what somebody else said.

Animal Reservations

First of all, what is reservation?

In a simple definition, reservation is an act of reserving something.

So in a conclusion, I can say that animal reservations are acts of reserving animals. Today, I am going to mostly talk about the issues that relates with this topic.

We all love animals don't we? Of course we have to reserve all of the animals so that they will be living in peace and also there won't be such thing as animal extinction. In today's period, most of us work as hard as possible to reserve them but then, there might be some people who does not care about it. They sometimes even do unnecessary things just to benefit themselves as the following:

1. Illegal logging

Illegal logging is basically cutting down trees without the official permission from the  government. Nowadays, A LOT of people are doing this so that they can produce money without a huge amount of effort. They are doing this without thinking  what are the effects that might happen; they don't want to know. They don't know that by cutting a lot of trees, the forest's ecosystem is disrupted as well...
Orangutans won't be able to hang around trees anymore and they also lose their habitat. So now, where will they live? This is the first step of animal extinction. How about other animals like tigers, rhinoceroses and cendrawasih birds?

Look, for example in Indonesia, it even affects the economy of the country and this problem is placed in the first rank. This activity does not only harm the life of animals living inside, it also has a huge impact on the country's economy which is a huge NO.

2. More building constructions

Yup, building constructions. By making new malls, buildings and hotels for a huge opportunity of investment, we would of course use the animals' habitat for our own constructions. This is also a bad thing because more trees are cut down which then means more animals losing their habitats.

Apart from these things, there are many more problems or issues happening related to animal reservation.

Now, let's talk about the ANIMALS that is usually killed  which is almost endangered now.

-> Orangutans.

Orangutan is an exclusively Asian species of extant great apes. They mostly come from Malaysia and Indonesia which lives in rainforests. They all lived happily until, a huge wave of people came to Kalimantan to do illegal logging. They don't actually came there just to cut the trees and ruin the habitats of Orangutan, but they came there to take the woods from the trees, without realising that it will affect the nature in a bad way.

-> Cendrawasih birds.

Cendrawasih birds are also one of the most popular animals that are almost extinct due to the problems that has been discussed in the previous paragraphs.

How to make the world better and how to prevent the bad things on happening?

First, is that we all have to realise what would really happen to the nature if we do things such as illegal logging. We have to think, will a certain activity affect the nature mostly in a good way or a bad way. Second of all, we have to promote more on animal reservation programmes and also participate more on taking care the nature, including our environment. Also, we might also save some spaces for the habitats of animals since nowadays humans are controlling the world such as making railroads, by destroying their habitats. We have to reduce this thing on happening as much as possible.

CONCLUSION

The conclusion is, to think before acting. Especially to the nature, think again, the nature is the source of our life. If we all ignore and instead destroy the nature, this means that we are also destroying ourselves.

Impacts of Hygiene

Hygiene is one of the most important things in our life. We need hygiene to save our life and prevent unwanted events that may lead us to death. The definition itself is a set of practices performed for the preservation of health (Wikipedia). Sometimes, we tend to forget hygiene. In some countries, they are struggling on maintaining hygiene which leads to higher death rate in their countries. On the other hand, some other countries really priorities hygiene, especially in More Economically Developed Countries.

Sometimes we like to underestimate the use of hygiene, but unexpectedly hygiene has an important role in our life. Unwanted diseases such as HIV/AIDS, dengue fever, malaria, diarrhoea, and many more might come due to lack of hygiene. As I said before in some countries (mostly Less Economically Developed Countries), hygiene is often forgotten. So for now, let’s talk about the example of the disease that might spread if we underestimate hygiene, HIV/AIDS. What is HIV?

HIV is a Human Immunodeficiency Virus. This virus attacks the human’s body system. This virus can spread through transfusion of contaminated blood, unprotected sex and also breast feeding. There are 10 million people and 3 million children in Africa that are HIV positive. Also, two-thirds of the world’s HIV people live in Africa.
To add on, you can get HIV from contact with infected blood, semen, or vaginal fluids. Most people get the virus by having unprotected sex with someone who has HIV. Another common way of getting it is by sharing drug needles with someone who is infected with HIV as it is told before.

As I said before, HIV/AIDS is one of the diseases that we might get if we ignore hygiene. Then how to prevent it?

-          Prevent unprotected sex

-          Make sure that the needle that is used is not contaminated/clean (if we are getting injections)

-          Eat healthy food (make sure it is clean as well)

Another example of the disease is dengue fever. This often happens to us, it started by getting bitten by a mosquito and ended up in the hospital. This is also caused by lack of hygiene like for example, earlier this month is raining season which means puddles are everywhere. These puddles are fine, IF ONLY the place is not dirty or crowded with trashes. The problem is that usually, these puddles are often dirty due to overcrowded trashes that are not thrown in the right place.  Like for example, on the riverbanks there are so many trashes and when it rains, the water would get trapped in the gaps between the trashes. That is the place where mosquitos lay eggs the most. If we are not active on this, more and more people will get this disease which also might increase the chance of death.

So what should we do? Go back to the topic, hygiene. It’s all about hygiene. We can prevent it from happening by throwing trashes in the right places, making sure that our house is always clean and not full of things that are not used anymore which provides mosquito breeding and so on. So, what are we waiting for, start loving hygiene and start acting!
